I like Jack Kerouac, but NOT THE DHARMA BUMS!

It sucks, seriously. I like Kerouac, but this book sucks. I read a plot summary online and some reviews and they all said it was bad, so I got a copy at the library the other day to see for myself and it is truly horrible. I didn't finish it, I read what I could digest. Which wasn't very much. So I've still only read one book of his (On The Road), which was spectacular.

The Money Answer Book By Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey shares his financial wisdom in The Money Answer Book. It is a question and answer book about financial topics, dealings, investments and stuffs that are normally faced by common people.

The book is easy to read and the question and answer format of writing makes the technical sounding terms sound less overwhelming. Many will appreciate his straightforward writing and views about personal finance.

I recommend this book to everyone who wants to get out of debt, needs some financial enlightenment or just wants a short easy to read book about personal finance.

Plan B by Pete Wilson

Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn't Show Up The Way You Thought He Would? is a book written by Pete Wilson, the founding and lead pastor of Cross Point Church in Nashville, Tennessee. It deals with coping shattered dreams, unmet expectations or just anything that doesn't turn out the way we planned them.

I was expecting a didactic and tediously moralizing book but Pete Wilson has drawn me with his conversational style of writing and non-preachy approach. Despite mentioning stories and characters from the Bible, the book doesn't sound preachy. It was an interesting, engaging and enlightening read - full of insights, too.

Although this book is inspiring and something worthwhile to read, I can only recommend this book to Christian readers. Stories taken from the Bible will mean more to the reader if they understand where these characters are coming from. But if you're an unbeliever with an open mind, feel free to grab a copy of this book.

Greater Love - A Tides of Truth Novel by Robert Whitlow

Greater Love is the third book in the Tides of Truth series of Robert Whitlow. It is about a young lawyer named Tami and her passionate pursuit of truth in matters of life and the law.

A legal novel, love story and a book about faith rolled into one. If you don't mind reading a novel on a first person's point of view, you'll find this novel as a good read. I suggest that you read the first two books though because there are times when you feel that you missed something - probably, a character's background earlier mentioned in the first two books.

Gearing Up For the Baby Reader

I'm a bookworm - I love reading. I had a collection of Bible Story books when I was in pre-school and when I was in elementary, my favorites were Sweet Valley High and Nancy Drew. Exposure to books when I was young contributed a lot to my love of reading.

Last night, while I was updating my Kindle Store, I decided to buy some books for Baby G at Amazon. I really want to expose her to books while she's still young but I can't buy books for her here because they are written in French and/or Arabic. Since we'll be visiting Philippines in June, I decided to buy just a few books then do the book shopping in the Philippines. (I'm already excited to visit the National Bookstore!!!)

With a budget of just $40, I started searching for board books in Amazon. Here are the books that I've chosen:

Because I chose to avail of the Free Super Saver Shipping, I have to wait for 5 days to a week for the books to arrive. But, awww... I can't wait!!! Right now, the only book I'm reading to Baby G is this book which was given to us by an officemate of Daddy G.

It's a flip-the-flap book and Baby G enjoys it. She sometimes gets so excited that she almost tore one of those flaps. Scotch tape time, mommy??? LOL!

Anyway, have you tried ordering books online, too? Can you suggest other baby books to me because I really find it hard to decide on these books just by reading their product descriptions. We could compare notes once Baby G's books arrive.
