Hard to believe that twitter has been around for half a decade! No one I know has been on twitter for 5 years, but the site itself just celebrated it’s 5th anniversary with this hilarious parody of a Ken-Burns-documentary on Funny Or Die. It’s the creepy dad from “Twin Peaks”!

Though many people believe twitter launched at SXSW, the service actually got its start nine months earlier – "to a whimper," co-founder Evan Williams writes on Quora.

Twitter’s 5th Anniversary Stats:

* 3 years, 2 months and 1 day. The time it took from the first Tweet to the billionth Tweet.
* 1 week. The time it now takes for users to send a billion Tweets.
* 50 million. The average number of Tweets people sent per day, one year ago.
* 140 million. The average number of Tweets people sent per day, in the last month.
* 177 million. Tweets sent on March 11, 2011.
* 456. Tweets per second (TPS) when Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 (a record at that time).
* 6,939. Current TPS record, set 4 seconds after midnight in Japan on New Year’s Day.

I'm preparing Turkey for Thanksgiving!

Apology! I had intended to publish more recipes here on the blog, but don't you know time got away from me. (And relatives who were supposed to arrive on Wednesday showed up Monday after hearing there might be big airport delays!) This year I'm preparing a wonderful Turkey for our Thanksgiving Dinner using the Holiday Rub Recipe popularized by Patrick and Gina Neely. Before you go to their recipe, here is where I make a change:

Put the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan.

I don't do that! I take 2 large onions, slice them THICKLY, spread them out on the bottom of the roasting pan, and set the bird on them! I also use a BUTTERBALL or other pre-buttered turkey!

Labor Day in the U.S.A.

Sincerest wishes for an enjoyable "Labor Day" to all of my peeps in the States! Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parties. Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events. Families with school-age children take it as the last chance to travel before the end of summer recess. Similarly, some teenagers and young adults view it as the last weekend for parties before returning to school.

Vacation Time

We will be having a vacation in my home country today and I can't wait to eat the foods that I really missed while I am here - partly because I don't know how to cook them and part due to the unavailability of some of the ingredients here. While you're reading this, our family is already on a flight back home to the Philippines - but you can still wish us a happy and safe trip.

Anyway, "The Twitterer" will not be idle while her author is on a break. I had prepared a series of posts that started yesterday with Warren's blog and I call this series "The Twitterer's Blog Grading Series". After reading about the characteristics of a good blog in various articles, I created a checklist and graded different blogs according to this list.

The featured blogs are randomly chosen from among my first commenters, frequent visitors, subscribers and EC droppers. If your blog is not included in the first part of the series, don't worry because I might still do the "Blog Grading" when I come back.

TGIF!!!

Yes, it's Friday.

It's gonna be a long weekend for all my friends in the Philippines because May 3 was declared as a holiday in lieu of May 1 (labor day) that will fall on a Saturday. Thanks to GMA's holiday economics.

I don't understand why other people criticize that. Truth is, every worker would love a long weekend.

When I was still working, I don't care what the holiday is for, all I'm after is that I'll be having a break from work. Yeah, it's an apathetic attitude but that's what corporate slavery does to you. LOL!

Thanks to my hubby for saving me. Now, I'm enjoying a no pay, everyday holiday schedule. Oh, on second thought, I do get paid - with lots of joy and love. I'm such a contented stay at home wife and mother, sigh!

Thank You 2009!!!

I wanna thank God for all the blessings I had received during the past year 2009. It has been quite a memorable year for me!

January 1 brought George and me a wonderful surprise, and that was seeing two lines in a home pregnancy test that I took. Yes, I'd learned that I'm pregnant on the first day of the year and I knew right at that moment that the year will bring a lot of changes and surprises.

Another memorable moment for me was when George and I celebrated our birthdays together for the first time. We prepared lunch/snacks and invited some of our friends over to celebrate with us. We spent the whole afternoon eating, chatting and singing with Kuya AJ, Ate Marissa, Sierrame, Juvy, Ate Sharon and Ate Bhe.

We were lucky to have long weekends early this year too because George was able to bring me to Marrakech in March. During that time, I was three months pregnant but the only noticeable changes in me were the pimples that seemed to enjoy popping out here and there on my face.

In May, we were again back in Marrakech for a business trip and after two months, this was how I looked already:

In July, George and I went back to the Philippines for our simple civil wedding held in Pampanga.

Then we enjoyed some bonding moments with Papa, Mama, Noel, Julie and Jamil at Villa Escudero...

and with my family at the Siraan Hot Spring in Anini-y, Antique

and of course, in San Jose...

Before July ended, George and I went back to Morocco together with Mama.

 I gave birth to our little angel, Georyl Marie, in September

and she has kept all of us up to our ears for the next few weeks (and months)...

except for a few sightseeing trips around Rabat.

In October, Mama went home to PI

so George and I became more busy taking care of our little angel

In December, BBG and I joined George for a business trip in Portugal and we became busy attending parties during the christmas season. I still hadn't uploaded our December pics and will be creating another post, or posts, for the December activities.

George and I just had baked chicken and spicy potatoes for noche buena but this christmas is still memorable because it's our second christmas together and our first christmas with our sweet little princess, BBG.
